Blood and blood products are a critical part of everyday medical care including major surgeries, medical procedures, cancer treatments and managing disease. Some people need it to get them through a serious event in their lives, like cancer or a dangerous pregnancy, and others have medical conditions which mean they need blood products regularly to stay alive or be healthy.
Our team began donating blood and plasma in 2016 and are proud to have provided twelve blood and seven plasma donations to date, saving 48 lives.
Bowmaker Realty is proud to have participated in the Brisbane City Council’s Homeless Connect initiative in 2016, which benefited more than 680 locals who were experiencing homeless or were at risk.
The project, which brings together local businesses and community groups for one day a year, to provide goods and services to people experiencing homelessness, has helped more than 14,700 people since the project’s inaugural event in 2006. The event provides guests with medical and health care services, haircuts, housing support, personal grooming items, clothing and bedding,
In addition to collecting five car loads of goods for donation, our team of 10 assisted in unpacking and sorting more than 28 pallets of clothes and 9 pallets of shoes for guests prior to the event.
The 100km Walk for Kids was created to raised funds for Mater Hospital to purchase two transport ventilators for their neonatal intensive care unit. The ventilators provide a safer, quicker means of transportation for premature and at-risk babies, by enabling the same bed and ventilator system to be mobilised.
In 2014, the Bowmaker team enthusiastically took on the challenge, and got involved in a number of ways. Leading up to the event, our team worked hard to collect and raise funds from local businesses, staff, family and friends, raising just over $14,000 in total. We also participated in the walk itself, with a team of 11, and provided company cars as support vehicles to follow participants and provide traffic control on the day of the event.
